It has been 18 years since New Zealand last toured Pakistan. On their first tour in 18 years, they will play three ODIs and five Twenty20s in the men’s Super League of the ICC.

There will be three ODIs throughout September at Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium, while five Twenty20 Internationals will be played in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium beginning 25 September and running through 3 October.

A chance to finish in the top three of the ICC T20I Team Rankings in Lahore will be up for grabs when the Rawalpindi one-day internationals count towards qualification for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 qualifiers.

New Zealand touring Pakistan after 18 years.

It is expected that Pakistan will host test matches next year for the ICC World Test Championship winners.

In what promises to be a bumper season for local cricket fans and supporters, New Zealand will be the first team to visit Pakistan in 2021-22. In December, West Indies will play three ODIs and three T20Is in Karachi, following New Zealand’s tour. A full tour of Australia is scheduled for February/March 2022.

New Zealand is presently on 30 points following three wins from three ODIs, while Pakistan has accumulated 40 points from nine one-day internationals. In October/November 2023, India will host the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be played there. The seven best-ranked sides and the hosts will be directly invited.

Pakistan last toured New Zealand in November 2003 for five ODIs. Inzamam-ul-Haq’s 329 and Shoaib Akhtar’s six for 11 in the first innings helped set the stage for Pakistan’s innings and 324-run victory at the Gaddafi Stadium 16 years previously.

The 2009-10 and 2018-19 T20I series were won by Pakistan, respectively, by 2-0 and 3-0, while the 2014-15 series ended 1-1. The 2014-15 Test series was drawn at 1-1 and the 2018-19 Test series was won by New Zealand by 2-1.
